On November 7-9, 1st Russian-Korean Interregional Cooperation Forum will be held in the South Korean city of Pohang in the south-east of the country. The business program of the event will be attended by a delegation of Yakutia under the leadership of the chairman of the regional government, Vladimir Solodov.
The event will be attended by nine entities of the Far Eastern Federal District of the Russian Federation, including the delegation of Yakutia, and all 17 independent regions of the Republic of Korea. The meeting, under the slogan Russia and Korea Open the Future will discuss the roles and tasks of regional governments in the development of bilateral cooperation. The agreement on the creation and implementation of this mechanism was reached during the meeting of the presidents of Russia and the Republic of Korea in 2017.
The forum program will start on Wednesday, November 7, and the main conference will be held on Thursday, November 8, in Pohang. In the course of its work, separate sections for businessmen, experts, youth, and also a summit of regional governments are planned. Much attention will be paid to negotiations between interested parties in a bilateral format. At the end, the adoption of the joint Pohang Declaration is expected. On the last day of the forum, visits to cultural and industrial sites in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province, as well as a concert and protocol events are scheduled.
As explained in the government of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), during the exchange of views the main focus will be on creating a base and solving practical issues on the expansion and intensification of trade between the regions of Russia and Korea. Representatives of expert circles intend to make a point of the Far East of the Russian Federation in the development of relations between Russia and South Korea, RG.RU reports.
