Yakutsk theaters as part of theatrical art development program in the Far East

A program for the development of theatrical art started in the Far East. It is designed for two years so far. Far Eastern theaters will be able to receive grants for new performances, various projects and festivals. Yakutia will also be able to participate.

For two years, the development program of theatrical art will be implemented in the largest cities of the Far Eastern Federal District: Yakutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Blagoveshchensk, Komsomolsk-On-Amur, Chita, and Ulan-Ude.

As part of this program, it is planned to hold a single theater festival of the Far Eastern District. The first will be held in Khabarovsk in October 2019. The ideological inspirer of the project is the artistic director of the State Theater of Nations Evgeny Mironov. Earlier, the people's artist of Russia has already announced his intention to hold a single theater festival in the Far East. According to Mironov, he is counting on the long fate of the festival, and the neighborhood with Japan and other countries will contribute to its international status.

Among the events there is the ‘Territory’ Festival-School of Contemporary Art. In 2019, such a school will be held in Kamchatka, and in 2020, in Yakutia. This year it takes place on Sakhalin, called Territory. Sakhalin. It is a kind of reference point for the implementation of the program. In total, about 40 people from 12 cities, including those from Yakutsk, are studying.

Within the program to support theatrical art in the regions of the Far East in September 2020 it is also planned to hold the International Pacific Festival in Vladivostok, which will be attended by theaters of the Pacific region and Southeast Asia.

Participation in the implementation of the Program will be: Far Eastern theaters, the State Theater of Nations, the ‘Territory’ Foundation for Development of Culture and Contemporary Art, the National Theater Festival and the Golden Mask Award, the Festival of Theaters of the Far East.
