Specialists of St. Petersburg Mining University are planning to increase the efficiency of gold mining in Yakutia through innovative developments, the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia informs on Tuesday.
“Representatives of the university have reached preliminary agreements with the management of Polyus Aldan JSC on the scientific support of a number of projects of the company. Among the promising areas of cooperation are geophysical studies aimed at expanding the boundaries of existing fields, improving the technological process of heap leaching, as well as further improving the efficiency of the Kuranakh gold recovery plant,” the message said.
Polyus Aldan JSC (part of the Polyus Group) is developing the Kuranakh ore field, reserves of which are about 256 tons of metal.
“For a long time, it was believed that the processing of 3,800 tons is the limit of the factory. But over the last three years, we have introduced a number of innovations both in grinding and in the process of sorption leaching, which allowed us to increase the amount of processing by 32%," says managing director of Polyus Aldan JSC Aleksei Noskov.
