On December 13, 2018, the Sakha Republic (Yakutia), Polyus PJSC and ALROSA PJSC signed a cooperation agreement at EXPOCENTER as part of the Days of the Far East in Moscow Festival.

Cooperation is aimed at ensuring reliable energy supply of promising investment projects in the Bodaibo district of the Irkutsk Region, further development of the Srednebotuobinsky oil and gas condensate field in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), development of hydrogeneration in the Western energy region of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), taking into account the need to reduce tariff rise rates and the development of the energy infrastructure in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The document was signed by the head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aisen Nikolaev, Polyus CEO Pavel Grachev, and ALROSA CEO Sergei Ivanov.

The need to sign an agreement is connected with the plans of Polyus for the development of the Sukhoi Log and Chertovo Koryto deposits located in the Irkutsk Region. The implementation of these projects will require the appropriate development of the electricity infrastructure. At the same time, ALROSA plans further development of the Srednebotuobinsky oil and gas condensate field and its hydro-generating assets. The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is interested in the development of the energy sector, the continuation of the socio-economic development of the region, including the gasification of settlements, as well as an additional reduction in the rate of electricity tariffs rise.

To solve these problems, the parties agreed on:

- considering the possibility of building a gas-fired power plant on the territory of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), which will use gas from the Srednebotuobinsky oil and gas condensate field of ALROSA-Gas (a subsidiary of ALROSA) with further distribution of capacity to the Bodaibo district of the Irkutsk Region as the primary fuel. According to preliminary estimates, the capacity of the new power plant can be up to 200 MW with an annual gas consumption of up to 300 million m3;

- considering the possibility of joint construction of the 4th power unit at the Svetlinskaya HPP (Vilyuiskaya HPP-3) of ALROSA with the further delivery of capacity to the Bodaibo district of the Irkutsk Region;

- preparing proposals for increasing the investment attractiveness of the construction of energy infrastructure facilities in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia);

- assisting in the preparation of the necessary permits.

The forms and conditions of participation of the parties in the project will be determined in the framework of the work of the joint working group.
