In the near future, a roadmap will be developed, according to which a new settlement will be built on the territory of the Elga deposit.
This was announced by the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev during his business trip to the Neryungri district on January 28, reports YSIA.

Commenting on the results of the meetings on the financial and economic activities of the Kolmar Management Company and Mechel PJSC, Aisen Nikolaev said that the plans for the establishment of the settlement did not raise any doubts in their expediency.

He noted that the clause providing for the creation of a settlement on the territory of the Elga deposit was included in the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the Republic until 2032.

“When solving the task of reconstruction of the railway connecting the deposit with BAM, we mean a multiple increase in production. And this entails the need to create a settlement on the deposit,” the head of Yakutia explained.

Aisen Nikolaev said that during a meeting with the leadership of the Mechel group of companies, the parties agreed that in the first half of this year a road map for the construction of such a settlement would be developed. The government of Yakutia, the district administration, PJSC Mechel and Elgaugol will work on the document.

In the framework of his working visit to the Neryungri district, the head of Yakutia met with the citizens of Neryungri, took part in the ceremony of transferring vehicles by the Transneft Vostok company to the Kindigir indigenous community of the Olekma and Tatta districts, examined the district hospital.
