Teaching at International Arctic School of Yakutia will be led in three languages

The International Arctic School in Yakutia will open in 2019. The languages of instruction will be Russian, Yakut and English. This was announced on Thursday by Minister of Education and Science of the Republic Vladimir Egorov.

“A major expected event in the coming year will be the opening of the International Arctic School. Its mission is to prepare students under international bachelor programs with the possibility of further education in the best Russian and foreign universities.

The teaching will be organized according to advanced level programs in three languages, including English,” the minister said.

The minister explained that by the end of basic school, students should be proficient in English sufficiently to study the basic subjects in this language. For these purposes, it is planned to involve native English speakers in the educational process - teachers of international bachelor programs.

The International Arctic School is aimed at the development of international cooperation between the countries of the Arctic in the field of educational activities. The international status of the school will be confirmed by ongoing programs of International Baccalaureate (IB), accreditation in the Council of International Schools (CIS), international educational projects of the United Nations, UNESCO, the Arctic Council and the Northern Forum.
