Until 2020, the Far East will receive more than 4.7 billion rubles for the conservation and development of protected natural areas and environmental protection. Financing is provided in the framework of the state Environmental Protection program.

"Very few people imagine how far contrast the Far Eastern regions are. This is an access to two oceans: the Pacific and the Arctic. It borders with four states - China, Japan, the United States and North Korea. The climate is varied from the arctic deserts of Chukotka to hot and humid Primorye. One of our priorities is to preserve the unique Far Eastern nature," - commented the Deputy Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East, Artur Niyazmetov.

Today in the Far Eastern Federal District, there are 42 specially protected natural areas of federal significance - 25 state nature reserves with an area of 13.5 million hectares, 7 national parks with an area of 4.35 million hectares, 9 state nature reserves of federal significance with an area of 1.3 million hectares, 1 federal nature monument with an area of 152 hectares.

As Minister of Natural Resources of Russia Sergei Donskoy commented, in the framework of "The Wild Nature of Russia: Save and See" priority project, special attention is paid to the projects for the development of the Far Eastern protected areas for ecological tourism. In addition, the macroregion will continue to increase the number of rare species of animals, such as the Amur tiger and the Far Eastern leopard.

The "Environmental Protection" state program is included in a list of 27 government programs, for which a mandatory special section on accelerated development of the Far East should be formed. The establishment of "Far Eastern sections" is under special control of the Deputy Prime Minister - Russian Presidential Envoy in the Far East, Yuri Trutnev, reports the press service of Minvostokrazvitiya of Russia.
