One of the significant events of the Year of Ecology was 2nd Ecologists Congress of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in April, said Afanasiev.  Based on its results, a resolution and a list of priority measures for improving the environmental situation in municipalities were approved. According to him, municipalities implement targeted environmental protection programs. "This year, it is planned to allocate 190 million rubles for these programs. Municipalities carried out more than 2.5 thousand of ecological and educational events. There were 2 600 clean-up events for landscaping and planting of greenery, in which more than 114 thousand people took part. Similar plans were also made by large enterprises that conduct economic activities on the territory of the republic," he said.

This year, in order to widely inform the public about the state of the environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) plans to launch the first stage of the information system "Ecological passport of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)," said Afanasiev.
