Chief Scientific Officer of the Hydrometeorological Center of the Russian Federation, Roman Vilfand, told about the winter in Russia. In his forecasts, he paid special attention to Yakutia.
According to him, in January the temperature is expected to be lower in most of Yakutia than during the same period last year. February is also unlikely to please the Yakut people - according to forecasts, this second month of the year in the north-east of Yakutia will be colder than in 2018. In all other regions, temperatures in January and February are expected to be within the average monthly figures.
“The forecasts that are issued by us on the last day of the previous month are best justified,” said Roman Vilfand. Accuracy of the same forecasts for the heating period in the last 18 years ranged 58-81 percent.
According to forecasts, this winter precipitation in Yakutia will fall below the norm. But an overabundance of precipitation is expected in Primorye and in the south of the Khabarovsk Territory.
