The priorities for Yakutia in the field of international cooperation in line with the single foreign policy of Russia were one of the topics at the meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov with the head of the republic Aisen Nikolaev. On December 10, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with the head of Yakutia, Aisen Nikolaev.
One of the topics of conversation was the priority areas of international cooperation for the republic in line with the common foreign policy of Russia.
"The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation noted and supported the work of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) with Japanese, Korean and Chinese partners," said the head of the region.
They separately discussed plans for further cooperation of the republic with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in organizing and holding the ‘Children of Asia’ International Sports Games, which will be held in February 2019 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (1st ‘Children of Asia’ Winter International Sports Games), 7th ‘Children of Asia 2020’ Games in Ulaanbaatar and 8th ‘Children of Asia 2024’ Games in Yakutsk.
They also touched upon joint plans with the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation on organizing events under the Russian Federation’s chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2021-2023, issues of working with Yakutians living abroad.
“Sergey Lavrov expressed support for many of our proposals, so I am confident that the further joint work of the republic and the Foreign Ministry in strengthening the international relations of Russia will be successful and fruitful,” said Aisen Nikolaev.
