In order not only to reduce the outflow of the population, but to attract new residents to the Far East, the Far East needs a high-quality social infrastructure

This was reported by Deputy Prime Minister - Plenipotentiary of the President of the Russian Federation to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev on the margins of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

"The next stage in the development of the Far East is an emphasis on the creation of social infrastructure. This is the support of motherhood and childhood. Such proposals are also formulated and sent to the President of the Russian Federation for consideration. Enough or not, I do not know exactly. But I know for sure that we will not stop for a single day in this search. I know that we will offer more new solutions and ensure that the Far East develops, becomes promising for business and comfortable for life. If we want people to have a desire to live in the Far East, they should have good living conditions. They should have good conditions for medical care, in order to teach children, to take them to kindergartens, to play sports, to get an opportunity for cultural rest," Yuri Trutnev said.

In February of this year, nine regions of the Far East submitted draft plans for social development to the government of the Russian Federation. Following the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary of the Russian President in the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev approved the construction and modernization of 195 social facilities. It is planned to allocate 55.8 billion rubles for them in 41 centers of economic growth, where new investment projects are located.

"All this is factored in that new direction, which we began to implement for 153 facilities, 195 events. We will build schools, kindergartens, hospitals, stadiums in the points of economic growth. I want to emphasize that this is not the current work. Not what has always been done. All projects under federal and regional programs will be maintained. These are additional funds allocated at the command of the President of the Russian Federation, which will be directed specifically at economic growth points in the Far East. It is necessary to do a lot," he commented.

The Vice Prime Minister also noted the importance of social support measures for the population. He gave an example of the Sakhalin region, where the population increased by 3.251 people (by 0.7%) compared to 2017 and exceeded 490 thousand people. According to the results of the year, a migration increase in the population was recorded in the region. 2.373 people came to the region. Over the past few years, a positive natural population growth has been observed in the region. Following the results of 2017 it amounted to 457 people. The birth rate is at the level of 12.9 per 1000 people, which is higher than the all-Russian and Far Eastern indicators (the Far Eastern Federal District - 12.1 and the Russian Federation -11.5 per 1000). It should be noted that within the previous 25 years the population in the region has only decreased.

"There is a surge in the influx of people to Sakhalin. Local authorities have formed measures to support the move. The region has implemented effective measures to support the birth of a child, the acquisition of housing. We will try to extend this experience to the entire territory of the Far East," Yuri Trutnev said.
