Wrestlers from eight countries are expected to participate in Freestyle Wrestling World Cup among men on March 15-17, 2019 in Yakutsk: Japan, Georgia, Cuba, Turkey, Mongolia, Iran, USA and Russia. Minister for Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic Innokenty Grigoriev announced this during a meeting of the Directorate of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the event on January 28.
The meeting was attended by Executive Director of the Federation of Wrestling of Russia Aleksandr Derevyanko, responsible operator of the Federation Sergey Moskvitin and the member of the Federation Vladislav Chernyavsky.
According to the Minister, the total number of participants will be more than 300 people. Each team will be represented by ten athletes of the basic composition in each weight category and ten athletes of the reserve composition. In addition, coaches, team representatives, referees, representatives of the Russian Wrestling Federation will arrive at the Cup. In total, during the World Cup more than 800 people will be accredited, including organizers, media representatives, volunteers and others.
“During the World Cup, free seats will be provided for children from vulnerable families, pupils of sports schools engaged in freestyle wrestling, and sports veterans,” said Innokenty Grigoriev.
Executive Director of the Federation of Wrestling of Russia Aleksandr Derevyanko noted several key areas of work on organizing the event. Members of the Wrestling Federation visited all the venues for events and accommodation.
“Given the fact that Russia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) have traditions and huge experience in holding competitions both at All-Russian and international level, the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup among men in Yakutsk will be held at a high organizational level,” Aleksandr Derevyanko expressed confidence.
Also, the participants discussed the official logo‘s draft of the World Cup. Corporate identity and layouts for the design of the sports arena, print and promotional products are obtained from UWW (United World Wrestling). During the discussion, the members of the organizing committee made their proposals: Olga Balabkina, Deputy Prime Minister of Yakutia’s Government; Aleksandr Tarasov, Minister of Transport and Roads of the Republic, and others, the government’s press service reports.
