Training camps of the Russian freestyle wrestling team will begin on February 6 in Sochi. According to their results, the composition of the national team for the upcoming important competitions will be determined, including the Freestyle Wrestling World Cup, which will be held in March in Yakutsk.
Commenting on the results of the Ivan Yarygin-2019 International Grand Prix, head coach of the Russian freestyle wrestling team Dzambolat Tedeyev stressed that there are three important starts ahead. And the first of them is the World Cup in Yakutsk, at which the Russian team will be tasked to win.
“We will have a very strong team that will ensure our victory in competitions. We have not won the World Cup since 2011, and we can’t lose at home, in our homeland. Even if we need our leader and captain Abdulrashid Sadulayev - he will be in line up,” he said.
Three Yakut wrestlers went to the training camp in Sochi: Eduard Grigoriev, Aryan Tyutrin and Viktor Rassadin.
After the eight-year break, the World Cup in freestyle wrestling will again take place in Russia at the suggestion of Yakutia’s head Aisen Nikolaev, who last summer offered President of the Russian Wrestling Federation Mikhail Mamiashvili and head coach of the Russian freestyle wrestling team Dzambolat Tedeyev to nominate Yakutsk to hold the World Cup, noted the press service of the head and government of the region. The initiative of Aisen Nikolaev was supported by the United World Wrestling at the end of December 2018. For the first time, Russia hosted the World Cup in 2007 in Krasnoyarsk, and for the last time in 2011 in Dagestan.
