‘Elgaugol’ to produce 4 million tons of coal in 2016

"To date, the Elga has established full-fledged Mining and Processing Plant, the open pit and dressing plant operate well. Last year the Company has extracted about 4 million tons of coal, similar performance is expected to achieve this year," - said in a statement.

By 2018 it is planned to reach full capacity of the first stage of the mining company, with an average annual capacity of 11.7 million tons of coal per year.

As reported, the Elga mine’s capacity is increasing every year. Since its commissioning ‘Elgaugol’ has produced more than 7 million tons of coal.

Mined and enriched coal of the Company is delivered to the Russian coke production facilities of Mechel Group, and exported to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR). Elga coal deposit is the largest in Russia and one of the world's largest coking coal deposits, located in South Yakutia. Its reserves are about 2.2 billion tons in accordance with JORC standards. Field development began in 2011.
